Unit 10-Transfer of Thermal Energy

What is transfer of thermal energy?
It is the transfer of thermal/heat energy from a region of higher temperature to a rejoin of lower temperature so that the body and the surroundings reach thermal equilibrium.

However, if the two bodies have reached thermal equilibrium, with the same temperature, there is no net flow of thermal energy between them.

The three main processes whereby heat is transferred:
1. Conduction
2. Convection
3. Radiation

All the above processes can be seen displayed in the following pictures.
